Second Summer Cycle

“Second Summer Cycle”, Cape Cod, Sept. 17, 2023

The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the inaugural “Second Summer Cycle”, a premier charity ride on September 17th, 2023. Ride options will include a 30 mile Plus (30+ miles), Metric Century Plus (60+ miles), or Century route (100 miles), with starting locations in Mashpee, Sandwich and Orleans. All riders will finish Provincetown where they’ll be treated to an after-party with food, local brews and music. The ride will benefit 18 Cape Cod non-profit organizations serving thousands of Cape residents.

Registration is now open. 100% of the funds raised by riders will support the beneficiary of their choosing or will be split among all of the organizations. Beneficiaries include Calmer Choice, Cape Abilities, Cape and Islands United Way, Cape Cod Children’s Place, Cape Wellness Collaborative, Cape Symphony, CCYP, CHAMP Homes, Community Connections, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Duffy Health Center, Latham Centers, Love Live Local, Sharing Kindness, WE CAN, YMCA Cape Cod, and Youth Athletic Fund.

All three routes will culminate at a shared finish line in Provincetown, where the Chamber will host a post-event celebration. Riders will receive $30 in vouchers, which they can use at the variety of food trucks on site. Craft beer will be available from Barnstable Brewing, along with limited edition Second Summer Cycle cans.

“We’re thrilled to launch this inaugural event that we hope becomes a signature event during the Cape’s second summer,” said Noelle Pina, Chief of Staff at the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. “What a great opportunity to ride the length of the Cape, enjoy the glorious September weather, and raise money that will have a positive impact on our non-profit community.”

For riders who prefer to use the Cape Cod Rail Trail as a part of their ride, the Century and Metric Century routes offer that opportunity. Riders who average 20 miles per hour can select to join the Fast Group, who will start 10 minutes before the main group of riders for the Century. Maps of each route will be available in the spring.

Rider safety is a top priority for this event. Police marshals, motorcycle patrols, signage and volunteers will be present throughout the course. There will be medical support and SAG vehicles, along with water and food stops along the routes. Riders and their bikes will be provided with bus transportation back to their starting location.
